Wednesday, 18th May 2022, 13:00-13:50 UTC+7
Co-organized by the Attorney General’s Office of Indonesia and UNODC Indonesia
This side event aims to promote, discuss, and share best practices in applying restorative justice. Restorative justice is a law enforcement concept where a measure of justice is no longer retributive but oriented around the recovery of the victims and perpetrators. Its implementation considers the balance between applicable rules and the principle of expediency.
Collie F. Brown, UNODC Indonesia Country Manager and Prof. Dr. Burhanuddin, the Attorney General RI (Keynote Speaker), officially opened the event. The discussion was presented by a panel of experts consisting of Tim Chapman, Chair of the European Forum for Restorative Justice, Ukrit Sornprohm, Project Manager at Thailand Institute of Justice, and Dr. Fadil Zumhana, Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes of Indonesia.
