Jakarta, 31st of January 2023 – The Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Indonesia (AGO RI), hand in hand with International Development Law Organization (IDLO), established mutual support through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
In the opening remarks, IDLO as the initiator of the MoU, represented by Director General of IDLO, Jan Beagle, conveyed her appreciation to the AGO RI and all parties involved in the making of the MoU. IDLO recognizes AGO RI’s critical role in handling and prosecuting criminal crimes overseas as the key component in criminal justice system as well as to provide justice to the community. IDLO also acknowledges that for the past few years, AGO RI has taken a series of measures to improve performance in conducting its duty, adapting to the new legislation, and improving public service. Thus, effective case management and budgeting system became the key to ensure AGO RI’s more effective, efficient, transparent, and accountable performance.
In the same occasion, Vice Attorney General, Dr. Sunarta, welcomed the cooperation of the two parties as the first step toward the implementation of AGO RI’s duty in nurturing relationship and communication with other international agencies and organizations, as established in Law Number 11 of 2021. AGO RI is committed to contribute and collaborate toward point 16 of Sustainable Development Goals on peace, justice, and strong institutional cooperation, especially in the establishment and administration of law.
The signing of the MoU was held in a hybrid event at 3PM Western Indonesian Time or 9 AM Central European Time. Signed by Vice Attorney General and Director General of IDLO, this MoU encapsulates the cooperation of the two parties in strengthening personnel’s capacity, developing information technology infrastructure and performance-based digital budgeting system of AGO RI. supporting AGO RI’s priority programs, as well as other programs agreed by both parties.
